Each month we publish a newsletter titled IAQ Website of the Month. The excerpt below was originally published in the March 2010 newsletter.
Chinese drywall has been in the news for well over a year. The messages from the media are often confusing and sometimes downright erroneous. Corrosive drywall can affect indoor air quality both directly and indirectly so it is important that you know the basics.
This month’s featured website is from the Technical Symposium on Corrosive Imported drywall. This was a 2-day event late last year that was sponsored by the Florida Department of Health and others. What makes this symposium unique is that you can watch videos of the entire event…. for FREE!
If you are passionate about the topic, I would encourage you to watch all the videos. However, if you want a quick “crash course” on the subject, I would recommend these 3 videos:
- For a short history of the problem, watch a 17 minute video of Jamie Poole’s Presentation
- For a short history of drywall and its production, watch a 27 minute video of Jeff Dushack’s Presentation
- For a discussion of drywall remediation, watch this video: Remediation
To view all the presentations and to download their slides, visit the Presentations Page. You can also download poster presentations from David Krause, Ron Bailey and others by clicking on Poster Presentations.
