Each month we publish a newsletter titled IAQ Website of the Month. The excerpt below was originally published in the April 2012 newsletter.
If you are an indoor air quality professional, you should know some of the fundamentals of toxicology. The problem is that toxicology can be complex and difficult to comprehend.
This month’s featured website is the only resource I know of that makes toxicology easy to understand, and dare I say, enjoyable to read. Toxipedia is a free toxicology encyclopedia that has articles on a wide range of contaminants such as pesticides, radon, and endocrine disruptors to name a few.
The best part of the website is a free download of a wonderfully written e-book titled “A Small Dose of Toxicology.” If you want to learn the fundamentals of toxicology, this is an excellent resource. In this 280 page book, you’ll learn about the dose response relationship, individual susceptibility and so much more.
I downloaded a PDF of the e-book and transferred it to my smart phone. I have been reading it on planes, trains and automobiles whenever I get the chance.
To download the PDF of the e-book, click on this link: Small Dose of Toxicology. It is also available in Amazon Kindle MOBI and EPUB format.
